Gingerbread Dance

Hello Everyone
Can you believe that there is less than a month until Christmas? I know I certainly can’t. I am so behind with my Christmas card making. It has been quite interrupted with my health and other family stuff but I am making some inroads. And here is another one to add to my pile 😀

Gingerbread Dance.jpg
One of the main reasons that I really like this card is because it is making use of my Christmas stash.  It is quite large … sales are a stash maker I tell you 😉

I have used the Christmas Cards All Year Round Challenge to start this card which was to use a Gingerbread image – I had this paper in my stash which I really couldn’t find the right card to use it on.  Then I went looking for a sketch to use and I found this one

I really don’t know what I would do without sketch. I find them a great starting place for making a card. I hope you like my take on it.  By combing these two challenges together I think I have come up with a simple but sweet creation. (puns intended!)

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my creation. I would love to leave you with this thought before you leave:

When I am not sitting and crafting a lot of the time you can find me with my nose stuck in a book.  I love being transported to another place and time … even if its only for a small amount of time.

Falling Leaves

Hello Everyone,
Another card inspired by two card challenges again, this is the 2nd card  I have to go into both of these challenges. I just loved the challenge idea so much and it helps me to build up my made card stash.

So the challenges are

and alsof27dc-2523102

And this is the outcome for the combination of these 2 challenges
Falling Leaves.jpg
The leaf stamp set is an older one from Bo Bunny but it’s one of my favorite ones. So I used some painters tape and scrap paper to mask off an area.

I chose to use 3 Distress Inks to achieve the Teal strip. Leaving the painters tape in place I stamped the leaves using both a Green and Red ink on each of the leaves. I was really pleased with how this turned out I think I may make a couple more using this combination.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my creation. And now I would like to leave you with a thought before you leave:

I am definitely not the same I was at the beginning of this year, month, week or even day. It’s just learning to leave with each of the changes that is hard.

Christmas Tile

Hello Everyone,
Today I am bringing you a card that was inspired by two different challenges.

I loved the sketch over at Sketch Saturday but I put my own spin on it which you’ll see in a minute,

and I also loved the colour combination used by the Color Throwdown Challenge

I thought I haven’t really used teal with red and green for a Christmas card so this is what set this card creation in motion.

And this is the end result of everything above being put together
Christmas Blocks.jpg
As you can see with the sketch I extended the bottom part because I didn’t have any square cardstock in my possession. (I hope that changing the sketch like this was OK, if not I understand my card being removed from the challenge) The reason I don’t have any spare cardboard for bases is because I have cut up my A4 cardstock into pre-prepared card bases to help with my crafting time – but I am going to buy a pack of square card bases so that I can have some on hand for these challenges.

But I was lucky to have some teal patterned Christmas paper in my stash. It’s actually been sitting in there for about 3 Christmases now so I’m glad to be using it.  I bought it because I loved the pattern on the paper but when I got it home I realized it didn’t suit anything else that I already owned.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my creation. And now I would like to leave you with a thought before you leave:
José-N.-Harris closer than yesterday
This has several meanings for me at the moment. I can see the steps that I have been taking are bringing me closer to my goal. I also realize that I have a long journey in front of me still but I am progressing.

Greeting Cards · Sympathy

Sympathy Not Easy

Hello Everyone, the card I am bringing you today is a type of card that I do not like making but then again who does? This is a type of card that we don’t like making but unfortunately this event does happen in our lives or that of our friends.

When I was thinking about making this card I wanted to make something that had some happy colours. The reason behind this is that so many of the funerals that I have attended have been a celebration of the persons life. And many of these people lived a colourful and full life – like my beautiful Mum who passed away earlier this year.

Anywho onto the card creation:
Sympathy Swirls.jpgI am really happy with how it turned out. It’s colourful but also simple. For this card I used my Distress Inks in Fired Brick, Wild Honey and Worn Lipstick to colour over the Tim Holtz Scribbles Stencil. The With Sympathy sentiment comes from a collection by the Cardmaking and Papercraft Magazine from the UK.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my creation. And now I would like to leave you with a thought before you leave:
